Yvonne was picking out an outfit when she received the dossier on Amber.
She selected a classic, form-fitting black-and-white spiral dress that exuded sophistication. Paired with a black mesh fascinator that partially veiled her face and a bold red lip, she looked mature, seductive, and dangerous.
Looking at her reflection and the photos of Amber in the report, a smirk touched her lips. "Let's go. Time to see what makes this Amber Newman so special."
Carrying a limited-edition LV handbag and swaying her hips, Yvonne slid into her Porsche Cayenne, flanked by her assistant and driver.
She was deeply intrigued by what Joanne had told her at the lounge yesterday, but she despised being used as someone else's weapon. Even if Sharif genuinely favored this student, Yvonne wasn't going to blindly attack her.
—She needed to verify it herself!
Morning assembly.
It had been a while since Amber had to do the PE conditioning drills, but some things were just coded into your DNA. When the music started over the PA system, she naturally fell into step with the surrounding students. Even if she didn't remember every move, muscle memory took over.
Lucian, on the other hand, was struggling. He was never athletic, and since his reincarnation, he had skipped most of his classes. When the drills began, he looked entirely uncoordinated. Retaining his arrogant, future-billionaire mindset, he eventually just stood still.
Vance took the opportunity to mock him. "Wow, big shot over here. Where's the 'top student' setting an example for the rest of us?"
Vance loved any chance to crush Lucian in the one area where he had the upper hand, and he wasn't about to let it slide.
Lucian raised an eyebrow and glanced at Amber beside him. Amber didn't even look his way, though if she had, she likely would have thrown a jab—What, Lucian, did the billionaire forget how to do jumping jacks? Oh wait, you aren't a billionaire yet.
Joanne quickly intervened. "Vance, just focus on leading the drills. You know Lucian is the top student. If he's not participating, isn't that a failure on your part as the athletic representative?"
Vance burst out laughing. "My failure? Joanne, is making things up your new hobby? Lucian refuses to exercise, and somehow that's my fault? What's next? He gets sick, and you blame me for giving birth to him?"
"You!"
"You ignore your own problems and just spew nonsense. Joanne, you must be sick in the head too. Guess it's my fault I didn't raise you right."
Joanne's eyes bugged out in rage. She wanted to kick Vance, but with the other classes watching, she had to restrain herself.
Lucian comforted her. "Joanne, why stoop to the level of a meathead? If you win an argument with him, you gain nothing. If you lose, you're lower than dirt. Don't ruin your mood."
Joanne immediately perked up, looking smug. "You're right, Lucian. We're not even the same species. Talking to him is like playing music to a cow."
Vance glared at her, but Tillie chimed in, "Oh, aren't we proud? Vance, you're an idiot too. She literally just said you're not the same species, so why bother? I actually agree with Joanne on this one. Why are you trying to argue with a dog?"
