Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 93

"Arthur, you're pushing your luck!"

Grace shoved him, shielding her son behind her, her own eyes brimming with tears. "You care so much about your daughter, but who cares about my son?"

"That slap you gave him hurt me just as much! Even if he didn't have enough proof and shouldn't have hit her first, as an adult, you had no right to lay hands on him either."

"He is my son! If he makes a mistake, I will discipline him. It is not your place to hit him!"

Arthur was furious. "Even if he was right, he had no right to touch her!"

"Grace, I'm an adult, and maybe I shouldn't have hit him. But he put his hands on my daughter, and that is unforgivable! Besides, do you even have proof? Hitting someone over an unverified assumption is a crime!"

Seeing the two of them arguing, Lucian quickly interjected, "Mom, we'll deal with that later. Arthur, make the call. If I wronged Amber, fine, I'll apologize. But by the same token..." He threw caution to the wind. "...If she really did it, she apologizes to Joanne and my mom. On her knees!"

"Lucian Juarez!" Arthur roared. He had watched this boy grow up and treated him like a son, yet in this moment, he felt like a total stranger.

He actually wanted his precious daughter to get down on her knees and beg Joanne and Grace for forgiveness!

For twelve years, had she been pouring her heart out to him and his mother for absolutely nothing, just like he had?

"How dare you!"

Grace snapped, "Why wouldn't he dare? Arthur, just do as he says."

Amber stepped forward. "Fine, Lucian. If Joanne isn't framing me, I won't just apologize on my knees to her and your mom; I'll beg for mercy. But if I am innocent, you will take your mom and Joanne's place and get down on your knees to grovel to me and Xanthe."

"Amber!"

"Weren't you so sure of yourself? Did you think I'd just stay quiet this time, like I did at the competition? I told you it was best we stayed out of each other's way. You're the one who decided to rip things apart, so why should I save your dignity? I bet Grace would love to know exactly where those fifty grand came from."

Lucian’s pupils constricted. "Are you threatening me?"

"Yes! I have plenty of dirt on you. I've just been too lazy to deal with you, figuring you'd slowly ruin your own life. But if you want to provoke me, I won't hold back. Aside from the competition, there's also the matter of your college applications. Your mom..."

"Shut up, Amber!"

"You better do as I say. You couldn't handle me getting on my knees," he warned, telling her not to push her luck.
