"Emmett, could you not talk about this stuff in front of the kid?" Clara covered Alex's ears with her hand and changed the subject, "By the way, Ricardo has been juggling his work and mine lately. I need to thank him when I get back!"

Emmett glanced at her, "How are you planning to thank him?"

"Maybe treat him to a meal? I'm kinda broke right now, so a nice meal is the best I can do!"

"Just the two of you?"

Clara nodded, "Yeah! I can't exactly invite the whole company, can I? That would cost a fortune!"

Emmett was at a loss for words.

He wanted to know what was going on in Clara's mind.

How could she be so clueless and not understand what he was implying!

"What? Did I repeat something wrong?"

Emmett frowned, "You're the boss's wife now. Do you think it's appropriate for you to have a meal alone with a male employee?"

Clara was taken aback, finally understanding Emmett's displeasure.

"If you want to come, just say so! You know Ricardo and I are just colleagues!"
