The call got through, and Elio's voice came over.
"What are you up to this time?"
"Aren't you planning to return home? Why do you seem so calm?"
"...What did you do to Clara?!" Elio's mood obviously got heated.
"What could I possibly do to her?" Leah laughed, "You should've guessed what I'm planning by now, right?"
"Leah! You can't ruin Clara's happiness. She's barely made it this far, you can't meddle!"
"Why can't I? If their love is strong enough, my meddling won't change a thing! If their love is shaky to begin with and there's no trust, then I'm doing them a favor by pulling them apart. What did I do wrong?"
"You're just talking nonsense!"
"Nonsense? I'm not talking nonsense!" Leah scoffed, "I know you're playing the good guy. You want them to break up too, don't you?"
"I don't! I'm not as low as you, all I want is Clara's happiness!"
"Then why don't you hold Clara's happiness in your own hands?" Leah shot back, "You're pinning your hopes on Emmett. Are you so sure he won't hurt her? And let's be honest, a guy like Emmett, I'm not the only one eyeing him! If I snatch him up, won't it be beneficial for the Milburns, the Calloways, and you?"
The other end of the line went silent.
