Clara lowered her head, her voice dropping to a mere whisper.

"Kids need company."

"I get it now!" Emmett grabbed her hand tightly, "It wasn't until you came along that I realized how fun and meaningful it is to have a family around. I used to think that making more money and making the Melendez family stronger was what happiness and importance were all about! But now I truly understand, that's not what's most important! The real happiness I want is having you by my side, having our kids by my side, work doesn't matter."

His sudden confession left Clara a bit flustered.

Emmett held her hand even tighter, "Clara, everything I've changed has been for you! Please don't let me down."

Clara looked at him, "Let you down? How could I let you down?"

"Unless your heart isn't with me, I can take anything else!"

"Let's go, we gotta get to work." Emmett never let go of her hand, even as he led her to the car.

Looking at his profile, Clara felt… like something was slowly changing.

Looking down, she saw it was Leah.

She was instantly startled, fearing Leah was in some sort of crisis.

"What's up?" Clara answered the phone, quickly asking.

"Clara… the guy I like, he rejected me! What should I do?"

"I don't have any experience with that." Clara felt like a kid when it came to such matters.

All she could offer were some words of comfort, like she'll find someone better in the future...
