"What happened to your mom?" Emmett raised an eyebrow, looking at his son, and probably guessed the reason.
Aiden pulled a face, his voice firm, "I don't want Granny to keep misunderstanding Mom! Grandma always thought mom would abuse me and my brother, but she's never done that! Dad, you’re not home often, so you don't know Granny has been talking nonsense to Mom."
Emmett paused for a moment.
He knew this was the issue.
"Aiden, your mom and I already had a chat about this."
"Well, what did Mom say?" Aiden asked, then grimaced, "Did she say... she can put up with it?"
Emmett nodded, "Yeah."
Seems like his son really understood his mom!
"Mom told me that before, but I can tell she's not comfortable deep down! I tried to talk to Granny about it, but no matter what I said, she always said I was too young and didn't understand! I'm really upset," Aiden's face was full of frustration, "Last time, I even saw Mom crying! But Granny still insisted she's our step-mom and needs to remind herself of that so she treats us right."
Emmett picked up his son, "Aiden, do you really like Clara as your mom this much?"
Aiden nodded vigorously, "Of course I do! Mom's really good to us!"
"Then leave this to me, you focus on your studies." Emmett smiled and ruffled his son's hair, "I won't let your mom keep getting upset! I'll go talk to your Granny this afternoon about it."
Aiden asked, "Really? Dad, you're willing to help Mom?"
