Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 223

"No need." Elio downed the drink in his wine glass in one go, then turned to Leah, "Are you sure you can do this without leaving any trace for the Melendez family to find if they start investigating in the future?"

Leah waved her finger, filling his glass again, "Of course! If I fail to handle this thing perfectly, I'd be the one to blame if anything goes wrong in the future! By that time, even if I have married Emmett, he'll kick me out. All my hard work would go down the drain!"

Elio stayed silent, frowning.

"I'm surprised you think that way." Leah chuckled, "I originally wanted to work with Taylor! We've met once already."

"Taylor?" Elio raised an eyebrow, "Why would you look for him?"

"Why, to help him win Clara, of course! Didn't you know? Clara is the apple of Taylor's eye!"

"..."

"Back in the day, Taylor's mom thought Clara wasn't good enough for her son, so she arranged for him to lose his memory, forgetting all about Clara! To make sure everything went according to plan, she even arranged for people to pressure Clara's dad into paying his debts. When he couldn't pay, they forced Clara to be a surrogate. All of this was orchestrated by Taylor's mom."

Elio was taken aback. No wonder...

"How can you say I'm stooping low? I'm just going for the best option for me!" Leah shrugged, "I have to admit, I'm not as noble as you, watching the one I love in someone else's arms! I'm more possessive; the one I love must be mine."

"But you're gonna ruin Clara!"

"If you're willing to marry Clara and help me resolve the obstacles that are hindering me, I won't give her a hard time anymore. I won't care where she goes then. If you don't accept her, she'll naturally go back to Taylor." Leah smirked, "Makes sense, doesn't it?"

"Sense, my ass!" Elio was a bit mad, "You had it all planned out when you came back, didn't you? You came back just to snatch Clara's man! You probably had it all figured out when I asked for your help!"
