At the agreed location, Clara had just sat down when she received a text from Emmett.
"What are you doing?"
Clara smirked and quickly responded, "Getting ready to chow down! What about you? Shouldn't you be in a meeting right now?"
"That doesn't stop me from texting you."
Clara laughed helplessly. She could imagine Emmett right now, sitting in his CEO chair. The shareholders and managers below were nervously reporting, fearing the slightest hint of dissatisfaction. Little did they know… their boss was texting his wife, flirting.
She responded with a sigh, "You should concentrate on your meeting! Be careful not to let your staff discover what you're doing, or your authority will go down the drain!"
"Do you think any of them would dare to peek at what I'm doing on my phone?"
Clara couldn't help but burst into laughter. She thought, “Yeah right! With Emmett sitting there, nobody would dare make a sound, let alone notice what he was doing on his phone.”
"Alright, stop interrupting my meal! When do you think you'll be back?"
"Probably around three in the afternoon."
"Then I'll wait for you at the office, and we can go buy some toys for Aiden! After all, he just got hurt, and I want to comfort him."
Clara waited a bit before Emmett responded.
"Alright."
Looking at the response, Clara chuckled helplessly. He could be so warm when he wanted to be, but also so cold! She put down her phone and looked out the window, soon spotting Elio's car! Not long after, he walked, dressed in casual white attire, heading straight for her and sat down on the chair opposite her.
"How long have you been waiting?"
"Not long." Clara smiled, "What would you like to eat? My treat."
Elio smirked, "Sounds like...you two are getting along pretty well."
"I guess! I realized that I misunderstood him before. He's not cold at all, he's actually very passionate if he opens up."
Hearing this, Elio took a deep breath to alleviate some of his discomfort.
"Have you thought about the future? Do you plan to continue living with Emmett like this?"
Clara was stunned, "I, I haven't thought that far ahead! I'm just taking things one step at a time. No matter how much I think, it won't change anything! Do I have any choice when it comes to Emmett?"
In the past, she couldn't decide whether to leave, and now she can't even decide whether to divorce or not.
"I think you don't plan on leaving him." Judging by her tone and expression when she mentioned Emmett, she had already accepted Emmett as part of her family.
