She didn't hesitate for a second, grabbed her files, and spun around to leave. She never noticed Emmett behind her, his eyes fixated on her retreating figure.

Emmett was actually trying to swallow up Taylor's company!

Clara carefully examined the document in the recording studio.

The document outlined a detailed plan, even listing the expected time of acquisition!

AW was Taylor's life's work. If it really got bought out by the Melendez family, wouldn't all his efforts go down the drain?

Clara's fingers hesitated over the document, her lower lip caught between her teeth.

If she warned Taylor... he should be able to brace himself, right? He wouldn't get bought out then!

But... would this be considered leaking trade secrets?

Clara stared at the document, lost in thought.

This might be the most torn she'd ever been in her life...

In the Melendez Corporation's conference room.

All the shareholders sat silently in their seats, waiting for Emmett.

Soon enough, he walked in with Clara.

Everyone stood to greet him, "Mr. Melendez."

Emmett nodded slightly, "Hmm, I assume you have all reviewed today's meeting agenda?"

"We have all gone through it!"

Clara lowered her head and hesitantly replied, "I think... acquiring a competitor is not necessarily a good thing. New competitors may emerge... If we keep AW Company, it can also help Melendez fend off some powerful adversaries. Because AW Company has its fair share of enemies, and if it is acquired, those enemies might transfer their focus to Melendez."

Emmett arched his eyebrow. "Are you genuinely considering Melendez's interests, or are you considering this for Taylor's sake?"

Clara was taken aback and quickly responded, "Mr. Melendez, I have no relationship with Taylor!"

"Is that so?" Emmett suddenly approached, cornering her in a corner of the conference room. They were so close that Clara could even feel his breath on her face. "I don't like it when people lie to me."

"Mr. Melendez, I'm just a secretary, and you know very well that my financial situation is not good! If I had any relationship with Taylor, how could I be in such a predicament? Besides... Taylor couldn't possibly know someone like me, right?"

Emmett narrowed his eyes slightly. "Clara, you know, your lying face is quite unappealing."
