After the meeting, he stood up immediately, and as soon as he walked out of the meeting room, he saw a worried-looking Ricardo, "What are you up to?"
After seeing Emmett, Ricardo looked even more worried, "Mr. Melendez, is your meeting over?”
"Yeah." Emmett said, "Go find Clara; we're going house hunting today.”
"Okay... but Ms. Calloway said she hadn't finished her work today." Ricardo stuttered.
Emmett noticed his odd behavior. He looked at Ricardo and said, "Spit it out; don't beat around the bush! I hate being lied to!"
Ricardo was now caught between a rock and a hard place, “Um…”
He wiped the sweat off his forehead, looking a bit terrified.
"Mr. Melendez, I don't know where Clara went... she said she was meeting a friend today."
Emmett frowned, "You mean she left?"
"Uh..." Ricardo lowered his head, "I'm sorry, Mr. Melendez, I couldn’t stop her."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Clara told me not to tell you; she was afraid you’d be mad.”
Emmett frowned and walked to the window, immediately pulling out his phone to call Clara, but he couldn’t get through no matter how many times he tried.
Just as he was about to check Clara’s car location, his phone rang.
Emmett immediately looked at it, thinking it was Clara, but it turned out to be his mother. Emmett frowned and answered the call anyway.
"Son, when are you coming home today? I have a special guest for you."
"Who's the guest? I'm busy now; handle it yourself!"
