"Yes, Mr. Melendez."

Just as Emmett was feeling frustrated, Sophia called again, but he declined without hesitation.

But a while later, his phone showed a call from Aiden.

With a slight hesitation, Emmett answered the call, and Aiden's voice came through.

"Dad, why haven't you and Mom come back yet?"

"I'm a bit tied up, so I might get back a bit late."

"Are you guys coming back at all? Grandma insisted we meet a woman, claiming she's our biological mom."

At this, Emmett immediately frowned, "Listen to me, whatever your grandma does, you and Alex just ignore her! Find an excuse about studying or something; I'm on my way back!"

"Got it, Dad."

After hanging up, Emmett immediately made a U-turn and headed home.

Upon arrival, he spotted a red car parked in his yard.

This definitely wasn't a Melendez family’s car!

"Son, you're finally back." His mother hurried out as soon as she spotted his car with a smile on her face, "I knew you'd come back. Come, let me introduce you to Leah."

Leah?

Emmett stared at the vaguely familiar face before him, his expression darkening, "Why are you here again? Didn't I tell you to vanish from the kids' lives?"

"I don't see a problem with it!"

"It must be Clara spoiling you! You can't even manage basic manners now! Is this how your father and I raised you?"

"Sorry, my manners aren't for just anyone." Emmett turned to Leah, "Leave! Now!"

After hearing this, Leah seemed shocked, quickly nodding.

"I'll leave right away; don't be angry, and don't fight with your mom. This is all my fault... Sophia, don't be angry because of me. I did accept the money before, even though I was desperate."

"It's not your fault."

"But I agreed to the transaction; I shouldn't be here now. This is my fault. Stop fighting; I'll leave right away."
