Emmett stayed silent.
Elio figured he was just wasting his time. He shrugged, "If there's nothing else, I'll be on my merry way, Mr. Melendez."
He shot a glance at Emmett before leaving the room.
After watching him leave, Emmett shot Matt a look.
Matt immediately got the hint, "I'll have someone tail him ASAP, Mr. Melendez. No need to worry."
Emmett simply nodded. With Clara missing, he was on pins and needles.
He worried that his unique status might have pissed off the wrong person. He didn't even want to think about the consequences if someone kidnapped Clara for business reasons and not because of some petty squabble.
No, he had to find Clara immediately!
...
Clara felt like she was in a dream. She dreamed about her dad coming back for money and Emmett finding out the truth.
If it weren't for the soreness in her shoulder when she turned, she might still think she was dreaming.
Clara opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, feeling dumbfounded for a while.
"Where am I?"
She quickly got up and scanned the room.
She was certain she'd never been there before.
There was only one door in the room. Clara quickly opened it and found a maid at the door, who bowed at her sight.
"Hello, Ms. Calloway, may I assist you?"
Clara asked, a little puzzled, "Can you tell me where I am? How did I end up here?"
