Elio hung his head, a look of unease in his eyes. "My parents are under Leah's control. If I let you escape, she'll definitely hurt them!"

Clara exclaimed in surprise, "She's already controlling your parents?"

"Yes." Elio's brows furrowed. "It's all my fault. Bringing her in as a substitute was a mistake! But it's too late to turn back now."

"You can; we can fight Leah together."

Elio shook his head, "No! Leah is relentless, and her plans are meticulous. We're no match for her right now!"

"Then you should let me go to Emmett. I need to discuss this with him! Don't worry; once I talk to Emmett, he'll consider your parents. We can secretly find out where she's keeping them and rescue them!"

Elio looked at Clara's anxious face. His heart was a mix of emotions. He gave a bitter laugh, turned his face away and said, "You trust Emmett so much, but not me…"

"It's not a matter of trust. Emmett and I are married, and we have Aiden and Alex! Now Leah wants to take my place; how can I agree to that?"

Seeing that Elio didn't respond, Clara quickly added, "I'm not saying this because I blame you; you came up with this plot to deceive Emmett for my own good!"
