"We better steer clear of this stuff." Clara crinkled her brow, wondering why such a thing even existed.
"Getting this recipe is like getting a certain level of power. For instance, if I command Emmett right now, he's gotta obey me. Whatever I tell him to do, he'll do it. If I don't give him the antidote, he's as good as dead."
Upon hearing this, Clara's heart sank. "So, who's got this recipe now?"
Leah was capable of anything. The last time Clara met her, she played the innocent so convincingly that Clara almost felt like she'd wronged her.
If Leah could scheme to get close to Emmett before, she could definitely use this recipe to control Emmett now.
This was not okay!
She needed to leave quickly and tell Emmett about this.
"Don't worry, the recipe isn't in Leah's hands. After my grandpa died, he passed it on to his most trusted successor. His criteria was that the person has to be righteous! The recipe can't end up in the wrong hands!"
Clara was a bit uneasy, "But why pass it down at all? I feel like it's just testing people's hearts, and human nature is always unpredictable!"
"The person chosen by Grandpa won't go wrong. Otherwise, he would have destroyed the recipe rather than pass it on."
"But everyone can be tempted as long as the conditions are right! Just like me, I consider myself a person who has never thought of hurting others. I don't have any evil intentions. But if one day, if someone threatened me with my child's life, I think I would compromise!"
Elio said worriedly, "I'm not sure about that, but compared to Emmett, I'm more afraid that if Leah gets the recipe, she'll use it on you!"
