"Where am I?" Clara asked, stealing a glance at him.
"You're in the suburbs, a place you've never been before! This is a house I bought earlier. I had a good friend who passed away. His parents lost their income and decided to sell his assets."
Clara bit her lip, secretly surveying the surroundings for a chance to escape.
"This villa has a great environment. I was involved in its construction, so for me, it's not just a building but a memento of my friend."
"I didn't know you had another house," Clara commented.
Elio suddenly turned to her, "Enough about the house. Let’s talk about you. How come you've changed your attitude so suddenly? I thought you were gonna give me a hard time for a while longer!"
Clara shrugged, "There's no point in butting heads with you. I've known you long enough to know your character. If you've made up your mind about something, I doubt I can change it, right?"
"No! Apart from this, I'm easily swayed by you. But on this matter, I owe you an apology..." Elio didn't continue, and Clara didn't press him.
Her goal now was to get Elio to let his guard down so she could find a chance to escape.
She asked, "Has Leah been in touch with you recently? Do you know her whole plan?"
Elio shook his head, "I have no idea. Leah and I are just relatives, nothing special. If it hadn't been for my sudden whim to find a substitute for you, Leah and I would hardly cross paths. At family gatherings, we barely exchange words."
"Oh, so can you guess how she plans to snag Emmett?"
