Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 361

"I can't confirm anything yet, so don't get your panties in a twist. I'll have people look into it, and if it comes to that, I'll go see Leah myself."

Clara hesitated before asking, "Leah won't do anything to you, right?"

Aiden and Alex were already in hot water; she couldn't let Elio join them.

She had some clue about Leah’s intentions, so saving someone from her might be a tough nut to crack.

"I can't afford to worry about that right now; I can't let those kids fall into her hands. I'm protecting you to prevent her from hurting you! If she uses the kids as bargaining chips, how is that any different from you in her hands? Just leave it to me."

After hanging up, Clara started pacing in the yard, her nerves frayed.

Nestor sighed helplessly behind her. "Ms. Calloway, do you need anything?"

"I don't need anything; I just want my kids!" Clara clenched her fists, a plan forming in her mind.

She would go to Leah herself and bring her kids home. If they were in danger, there was no point in her sticking around.

...

Leah walked far enough away to make sure Sophia couldn't see her, preparing to make a call.

Suddenly! Another call came in.

She glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was Elio.

Leah chuckled coldly and answered the call. "What do you want?"

"Cut the crap! Are Clara's kids with you?"

"Her kids? How would I know? Aren't they supposed to be with the Melendez family?"

"Don't play dumb with me! You can't possibly not know about Aiden and Alex disappearing!"

After putting away her phone, Leah gazed at Sophia, who was still waiting for her in the distance, as a small smile appeared on her face.

She was the puppet master in this drama; even the Melendez family, including Emmett, had to play along.

She had to admit that it felt pretty good.

...

"Mr. Melendez, we haven't found them yet, but we've compared all the vehicles that passed by. Here are the suspicious ones."

Matt quickly handed the file to Emmett.

Emmett took a glance. "These are all the cars that passed by last night?"

"Yes, and none of them had passengers."
