Aiden was the epitome of calm, and he voiced his question with a clear tone. "That woman stole our father away, didn’t she?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?!" Sophia wanted to quickly end such doubts among the kids. "They were a couple to begin with. It was Clara who suddenly appeared and stole your father away. Otherwise, Leah would have become your mother a long time ago. It's too complicated for me to explain fully now, but all you need to know is that you should treat this new mother well in the future."
Just as Alex was about to interject, Aiden quickly interrupted him. "Oh, we get it, Grandma. It's getting late, so you should rest."
Sophia nodded. "Alright, you boys should get some sleep too. Tomorrow, I'll take you to the amusement park."
"Okay." Aiden saw her out to the front door.
As soon as the door closed, Alex crossed his arms. He was clearly upset. "Aiden, didn't you say you couldn't accept a new mom? Why didn't you let me say anything just now? If we keep quiet, Grandma will think we've agreed to this!"
"Alex, didn't you see? Grandma has already made her decision. Do you think they would change anything because of what we say?"
"But... we can't just switch mothers like that! I hate that woman called Leah! I absolutely won't call her mom!"
Aiden sighed. "Listen to me; I won't call her mom either, but for now, we have to keep these thoughts to ourselves. Our real mom had to leave because of a misunderstanding with dad, but she promised she would come back for us."
