Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 43

Clara felt overwhelmed and unsure of how to respond. She was taken aback by Emmett's words and the mention of Taylor.

"So, Taylor Atwood showed up outside Melendez's company today, and you were with him, causing you to be late, right?" Emmett questioned.

Taylor? Clara's mind raced with a multitude of excuses, but they seemed futile now. So, Emmett was upset because of Taylor, not Alex?

"I didn't see Taylor!" Clara denied.

Emmett's expression turned cold, his voice stern. "You know better. Just remember, you're with Melendez now. Once we officially register our marriage, you'll be a married woman. We may not be a real couple, but your actions reflect on Melendez. Don't underestimate the consequences. Especially when it comes to Taylor, you cannot meet him."

Clara hesitated for a moment and then nodded, "I understand."

"Prepare the car," Emmett commanded.

"Where are we going?"

"To register our marriage!"

"Ok..."

Clara turned around and left the office.

He really freaked her out!

She almost thought Emmett was forcing her to hand over Alex!

But now it's clear that Emmett probably knows that family. He might have even met her other child!

Every time she thought about that son, Clara felt heartbroken!

For so many years, to avoid suspicion and not to lose Alex, she dared not blatantly look for that child, let alone find out information about that child and that family!

She was afraid that the child would hate her.

And she was afraid to meet that child. He might not acknowledge her.

After class, Aiden was trying to contact Alex on his phone.

Aiden got up to go back to the classroom, but that didn't mean he gave up on finding Alex.

There was a PE class in the afternoon!

He could excuse himself to go to the bathroom and sneak out. That should be easy.

Sure enough, during the PE class, Aiden easily slipped out of school under the pretext of going to the bathroom.

On the way, Aiden kept trying to contact Alex. But his phone was still off.

When he arrived at Clara and Alex's place, he found no one there.

Had Alex already gone to school?

Aiden checked his previous chat records with Alex and found the kindergarten Alex was at.

Just as he was about to walk into the kindergarten, he heard a woman asking, "Are you Alex? Is Alex in class?"
