Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 443

Sophia hesitated before sitting opposite him, "With our son being such a catch, everyone wants to be Mrs. Melendez. I can't help but be wary! What if Leah is just using the kids..."

Patrick cut her off, "Look at this! You were the one who brought Leah in, and now you're the one doubting her. What do you want?”

“I'm just trying to figure out if there's any foolproof way. One needs to be cautious, right?” Sophia shot her husband a glance, “Never mind, you're just enjoying your coffee, not helping me think at all!”

“You said it yourself, a biological mother will always be better than a stepmother. And you saw it last time, Leah nearly lost her life for the kids.” Patrick put his coffee down, looking at her, “Enough with your suspicions already. Haven't you noticed how Aiden and Alex have been clinging to Leah lately? This proves your decision was right! Once they're married, Aiden and Alex will naturally accept her.”

Sophia massaged her temples and sighed, “I can't help worrying about the kids; they're my everything! I won't rest until I see them settled.”

Patrick threw up his hands, helpless against his wife's worries.

However, he understood what she was concerned about.

Clara was all over the news, flirting with other men. If she stayed around Emmett, nothing good would come of it.

He was also worried that letting her be close to the kids might influence their values.

This incident had cost Patrick his say in matters regarding the kids.

There was no help for it. Since he had backed Clara as a potential mother, now he had to live with the consequences.

This was perhaps the longest stretch of time Clara had ever endured.

Every minute, every second was agony.

“I'm not even sure if I'm pregnant yet, and you're wasting money on this!”

“Judging by your symptoms, I'm sure you're pregnant. I bet on it! That's how it's portrayed in the TV shows.” Rose seemed more excited about the baby than Clara herself, “Go on, go on!”

She urged Clara into the bathroom, guarding the door to ensure their privacy.

Clara looked at the pregnancy test in her hand as if it weighed a ton.

It felt like waiting for a verdict. She wanted to know, yet she was scared of the truth.

After hesitating in front of the mirror for what felt like an eternity, she finally opened the test.
