The doctor was left a bit lost by the barrage of words tumbling out of the distressed woman. He was not entirely sure who the 'scoundrel' she was referring to might be, but her tone gave him a good enough hint to piece together the gist. He interjected with professional concern.

"If the patient is harboring some deep-seated emotional distress, it could certainly lead to other complications. Even without fainting spells, psychological issues need to be taken seriously—a proper intervention might be in order."

"Absolutely! You're spot on!" Sophia nodded vigorously. "If my boy turns out fine this time, I'm booking an appointment with a therapist right away. We'll get him to forget that devil. She's nothing but a heartless demon! Once we're back, I'll kick her out. Mark my words. She won't darken the Melendez doorstep again!"

With that declaration, Sophia fished out her phone from her purse and dialed Leah's number.

After a few rings, Leah picked up.

"What's up? I'm in the middle of a game with the kids."

"It's bad, Leah. My son's passed out. We're in an ambulance on the way to the hospital now!"

Leah was taken aback momentarily before responding with urgency, "Which hospital are you headed to? I'll come right over. Don't panic."

"We're going to Central Health Hospital. Hurry over! Maybe if you stick by his side, it'll touch his heart."

"I'm on it."

After hanging up, Sophia stared at her phone, her brow furrowing slightly.

It looked like she might have to play her cards a bit differently this time. Otherwise, Clara would be like gum on a shoe—impossible to scrape off the Melendez family. She would stop at nothing to ruin her son's prospects.

Leah hung up, ready to dash out the door.
