Clara shook her head vehemently and begged, "Believe me, I'm telling the truth!"

"Who's gonna believe that hogwash? That bun in the oven of yours could be anyone's little bastard. If you upset Mr. Melendez and he ends up in the hospital again, not even dying a thousand times would make up for this blunder. Now scram!"

Using every ounce of strength she possessed, Clara struggled and pleaded.

But she couldn't stop the butler from dragging her to see the Melendez family's private physician.

The butler hesitated at the sight of the check and said, "I really shouldn't take this. Ms. Calloway, I advise you not to meddle in this affair. Clara got what she deserved! To think she was eyeing other men while with Mr. Melendez, he's furious this time. It's best if you don't get dragged into this!"

With that, he reached for Clara to take her to the doctor.

Clara's eyes pleaded with Leah, who was now out of options.
