Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 500

Emmett had always seen Elio as a thorn in his side, and now with the news of Clara’s pregnancy, Emmett probably wanted nothing more than to grab Elio by the collar and end him for good!

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, she felt like every move she made was the wrong one.

Clara glanced at the road ahead, gritting her teeth.

No, she couldn't back down!

For Emmett's sake, she would endure any exhaustion. She needed him alive, even if it meant Leah was the woman by his side!

After steadying her nerves, Clara quickly pulled out her cell phone to contact Elio, but after several tries, there was still no answer.

Clara was on the verge of a meltdown!

If no one came to pick her up soon, being dragged back would be a matter of minutes, and Leah wouldn't be able to save her then!

Frowning, Clara wondered if she should tell the truth, but that would probably mean Emmett's antidote would be gone for good.

Leah was ruthless. How could she possibly have a change of heart and hand over the antidote willingly?

In the end, she would lose Emmett!

She couldn't bear that thought, nor the idea of her children growing up without a father.

...

In the hospital.

The sounds of chaos buzzed in Leah’s ears as she slowly opened her eyes.

Leah swallowed hard, and from Sophia's tone, it seemed Clara hadn't been caught yet, meaning she had escaped safely.

Relieved, Leah's sigh did not go unnoticed, prompting Sophia's curiosity.

"Why does it seem like you're happy that Clara has left the Melendez family?"

Leah paused, realizing she couldn't keep up the charade any longer, so she confessed, "I'm sorry, Sophia. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but having her around, the kids and I may be close, but there's always been a barrier."

Sophia nodded in understanding, as her sentiments were relatable.

"That's why I wanted her out of the Melendez family. When I heard she had escaped, I even felt a twinge of joy. If you're angry, Sophia, just scold me. I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have felt that way."

Sophia looked at her, but rather than expressing any blame, she smiled and said, "It's alright. But let me tell you, never say such things in front of Emmett. That woman has somehow cast a spell on him, leaving him utterly bewitched!"
