Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 96

"Alright, Clara, you're definitely not like other women."

Clara didn't like his tone; it reeked of sarcasm.

Did he find out something?

"Mr. Melendez, you seem a bit ticked off.”

“I’m not ticked off; I’m good.”

“Well, my bad then. You can find a new secretary to replace me as soon as you can.” Clara paused slightly, then added, “I’m really sorry.”

“You’re planning on ditching the country even if we’re getting a divorce, aren’t you? From what you’re saying, it doesn’t sound like you plan on seeing me again.”

How could she forget about that?

But going back home now would be playing with fire. What if the Melendez family found something out and tried to lure her back?!

Clara responded quickly, “Once I wrap things up here, I’ll go back home. Sorry, I have some stuff to take care of, and I have to hang up now.”

With that, she hung up the phone quickly, clutching her heart, which felt like it was about to leap out of her chest.

She had a bad feeling in her gut, but she didn't know why.

In the game room, Alex was still sobbing.

It was rare for him to do so, but this time he was determined to have his mom marry Mr. Milburn.

Aside from Mr. Milburn being a great guy, there was another reason.

"Darling, I'm just respecting your mom."

"But... I really want a dad..." Alex lowered his head, his eyes still red. "I even betrayed Aiden who I like. I just want to have my own mom and dad!"

"Don't worry; I promise I'll win your mom over!" Elio extended his hand, "Deal?"

Alex's eyes immediately lit up, "Really? Mr. Milburn, are you sure you can win Mom over?"

"Of course! It just needs a bit of time!"

"Okay! It's a deal then, whoever lies is a big fat liar!"

Elio sighed, "Alright, alright, whoever lies is a big fat liar! But I have a condition!"
