She frowned.
Cynthia's smirk grew unbearably smug.
"Did you get a good look? I am completely clean in the eyes of the law. You have zero right to arrest me, and absolutely no right to throw me in a cell."
She deliberately waved the certificate inches from Seraphina's face.
"You tried so hard to ruin me, Seraphina. What a shame. I'm standing right here, and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it."
Staring at the paper, Seraphina suddenly burst out laughing.
"Clean?"
She lifted her gaze, giving Cynthia a mockingly pitying look. "Do you even believe that yourself, Cynthia?"
Cynthia's smug smile faltered for a split second.
Seraphina stepped closer. "You know exactly what kind of monster you are. Don't think a single piece of paper is going to wash away the absolute filth of your past."
"So what?"
Cynthia sneered, her tone dripping with arrogant entitlement. "I have no criminal record. No matter how much you hate my guts, your hands are completely tied."
Watching her act so unhinged actually made Seraphina calm down.
No wonder Cynthia was bold enough to swagger back into the country.
Someone had obviously paved a golden escape route for her, going so far as to forge a flawless legal document.
Whoever was backing Cynthia was clearly highly connected.
But it didn't matter.
A piece of paper couldn't erase hard facts.
If she could force Cynthia into a corner before, she could absolutely hunt her down again.
With that realization, Seraphina casually slipped her phone back into her pocket, her expression turning terrifyingly serene.
"If you really think that piece of paper is your lifetime immunity idol, hold onto it tightly."
She gave a sweet, chilling smile.
"Because I'm pretty sure that's the only thing you have left to your name."
Cynthia's face went violently pale.
"Don't act so high and mighty! Why do you think I came back? We aren't done, Seraphina. I'm not letting you walk away from what you did to me!"
Seraphina found the entire threat utterly laughable.
"What I did to you?"
