Tristan paused.
"Regret what?"
"Regret how I treated her."
Dominic gripped his glass, a heavy lump forming in his throat.
"Do you know? She used to revolve her entire world around me. No matter how late I got home, she was always waiting. She remembered everything I liked, always cared if I was eating right, if I was sleeping enough... but I never even bothered to truly look at her."
He let out a bitter, self-deprecating laugh.
"I used to think she was so annoying. I thought everything she did for me was just a given."
"But now..."
Dominic's voice broke. "She won't even spare me a single glance."
Tristan stayed silent for a moment before letting out a slow sigh.
"Dominic, some things just belong in the past."
He looked at Dominic with total seriousness. "You need to move forward. Seraphina has already started a new life. She isn't going to come back to you."
Dominic's head snapped up.
"Why not?"
His voice was laced with desperate defiance. "We were married for six years, Tristan. We have Lily. Does six years of history really mean absolutely nothing?"
Tristan frowned.
"You realize it was six years, right?"
"She gave you the best six years of her life, and what did you ever give her in return? Now that you finally know what you've lost, you expect her to just forget every ounce of pain you put her through and run right back into your arms?"
Dominic froze.
Tristan sighed again.
"Dominic, you can't demand she turn back just because you're suddenly feeling remorseful."
The words twisted like a knife in Dominic's chest.
He lowered his head, tears finally slipping down his face, completely out of his control.
"But I really can't let her go..."
His voice was hoarse, stripped down to a pathetic vulnerability he had never shown before. "I tried. I really tried. But I can't do it."
He thought he could slowly get used to a life without Seraphina Sinclair.
But reality proved him entirely wrong.
Seeing the absolute disgust in her eyes whenever she looked at him made him want to go back in time and beat the living hell out of his younger self.
Unfortunately, there was no cure for regret.
Right at that moment, the door to the private booth swung open.
"Tristan Spencer, what are you doing hiding in here? I've been looking all over for you."
