Chapter 654 A Stranger

This week’s random animal was a not–so–clean hippo,

In the wild, if a hippo says he’s the grossest animid around, no one is going to argue with him.

These guys literally use their tails like fans to spray their poop everywhere.

Because they are huge, have thick skin, and a terrifying bite, basically, no other animal dares to mess with them.

Even though this king of filth often turns water sources into a trash dump and a sewage pit, poor antelopes, zebras, and even lions and cheetahs still have to drink and swim in that gross

water.

With no choice, even crocodiles back off when they see this guy.

So, this week’s by–product was pretty powerful. Caroline was actually happy with it. It was another defense–type item. She already had plenty of attack stuff, but not much for defense.

She spent some time wandering around her storage space and even felt like doing some gardening in Farm One and Farm Two.

By the end of the day, Caroline felt like she had retired to a quiet countryside life.

All the chaos outside was forgotten. She just farmed, harvested her crops, and enjoyed some delicious food she usually didn’t have time to eat.

Except…

Nelson and Shane would randomly pop up anytime, anywhere, just to remind her they existed.

Shane’s injuries were healed, but he still hated wearing clothes. Nelson forced him into a white lab coat, and he ran around the space like an idiot.

Every time he saw Caroline, he repeated the same thing, “Three months.

“Three months.

“Three months.”

After hearing it dozens of times, Caroline and Nelson realized this wasn’t just random crazy talk. There had to be a reason Shane kept repeating “three months“!

Nelson grabbed Shane, who was still running around like crazy, trying to ask what “three months” meant. But Shane didn’t cooperate and dipped away again in seconds.

It was obvious that since he got back, his mind was even more fried than before, like he’d been through something traumatic.

Just as Caroline was about to leave the space, Nelson stopped her, “Caroline, Shane is acting weird. He keeps saying three months,‘ but he can’t explain it. I want to try hypnosis on him. But it’s risky, especially for someone as unstable as him. I’m going to need your help.”

Caroline didn’t see any reason to say no, so they set the date for three days later.

During those three days, while everyone relaxed and did nothing much, they planned to soak in the healing springs.

Nelson also made an important decision; he wanted to perform brain surgery on Shane to see if his mental illness could be treated.

This wasn’t like the old ice pick surgery, where they shoved an ice pick through the eye socket and destroyed the frontal lobe to make people obedient and dumb.

Nelson had made a breakthrough. He could stimulate the brain along with his ability to physically repair Shane’s brain.

Caroline listened to his explanation for a while but was still confused. She asked worriedly, “Nelson, what if he just gets stupider? Or crazier

Right then, Shane stopped running. He was crouching barefoot on the ranch fence like a monkey, staring at them with a goofy grin.

Nelson glanced at Shane with a blank face, then looked back at Caroline. “Do you think he can get any stupider? Or any crazier?”

As if he understood the question, Shane let out a loud, dumb laugh. “Hehehe!”

For some reason, Caroline felt… Nelson had a point.

Shane’s condition looked much worse than before. You couldn’t even have a normal conversation with him.

So, yeah. Let Nelson try.

After the plan for the next few days was set, Caroline also got clear news from Jasper–the mobile base would be fully ready in two months.

Everything seemed to be slowly going back on track.
