Chapter 681 Take Care of Yourself
Chapter 681 Take Care of Yourself
Lately, Caroline had been moving around the base without Raven or Jet.
They were just too eye–catching.

Besides, soldiers were guarding and patrolling everywhere. The base was safe enough. She didn’t need them following her or keeping watch.
“If you want to see Raven, come by my room later.”
Even as she said it, she remembered Raven was currently head over heels for Snow. They were already grooming each other. She wasn’t sure they’d like being interrupted.
After all, Jet had gotten annoyed watching them act all lovey–dovey that morning. He tried grabbing Raven’s big head–only to get pinned to the ground by Raven with one paw.
Haroldson smiled and said he still had work to do and would visit Raven another time.
Then he chatted a bit with Caroline.
“Caroline, I heard you guys killed that strange mutant.”
He came over smiling. Only then did Caroline notice he was still limping slightly.
Noticing her gaze, Haroldson rubbed his right leg. “It’s fine. They say bones and tendons take about a hundred days to heal. It’s not fully better yet, but it will be.”
In the apocalypse, most ability users had stronger bodies, and healing–type ability users were extremely powerful, able to channel energy into the injuries.
Otherwise, with a broken leg like his, Haroldson probably wouldn’t even be out of bed next month.

After hearing how Caroline and Tyler dealt with the mutant, Haroldson gave her a thumbs–up. “You and Tyler are amazing. Back then, there were five of us…”
He didn’t finish, but the sadness on his face said enough. His other four teammates were probably gone.
“Caroline, thank you for avenging my teammates!”
As he spoke, Haroldson straightened and gave her a perfect military salute.

Caroline gently patted his shoulder and didn’t say anything.
She knew the people on his team had all been young soldiers, barely in their 20s.
200
She still remembered running into them while collecting gold before. They’d been laughing so brightly. The image of those carefree young faces was still vivid in her mind.
She never expected that just a few months later, those bright faces would be gone when she saw Haroldson again.
That was the cruelty of the apocalypse.
She’d heard that the military had started recruiting more aggressively.
Some ability users were willing to join, but most weren’t doing it out of duty. They just needed food.
Bases and shelters couldn’t give free supplies to everyone. Everything had a price.
Some families had survived earlier disasters with their elders and children, but now they couldn’t work or contribute.
If a family had young or able–bodied members, they’d choose to enlist so the rest could survive.
But now, the Sea Folk had appeared.
Many people who planned to live off military rations were probably hesitating.
“Take care of yourself. You really have to,” Caroline said seriously.
Haroldson grinned, just as cheerful as ever. His eyes were bright with hope. “It’s fine, Caroline. My ability is awesome! And the army’s supplements are way better now. If someone messes with me, I’ll blow them up. If one blast doesn’t work, I’ll do it again. I’m that strong.”
Caroline couldn’t help but smile.
Seeing hope in a young person’s eyes always lifted her mood.
Suddenly, Haroldson turned serious and looked straight at her. “Caroline, I actually came to find you. I heard you’re going to the desert to look for a strange man. There’s something I w.
I don’t know if it’s related.” to tell
