Chapter 684 Who’s Caroline?
After talking for a long time, Jet finally lifted his head from under his wings.

Caroline saw the little tuft on his head drooping. His feathers looked messy, and there were even red veins in his eyes.
After a long pause, Jet finally said, “Human… gray parrots also only choose one mate.”
That instantly left Caroline speechless.
Many birds are symbols of devotion.
They bonded with just one partner for life.
If one died, the other often wouldn’t last long either.
Jet was a highly intelligent mutant. Caroline couldn’t be sure whether he would stay attached to Silver forever.
Still, she chose to keep a close eye on his mental condition over the next few days. She also secretly pulled Raven aside for a stern talk, telling him to make time to talk with Jet.
They were both animals. Maybe they could communicate in ways she couldn’t understand.
According to Francis, the military aircraft would need about four more days before it could be reassigned.
In the last two days, Caroline had been constantly going over details about the desert man with Tyler. She had also dragged Shane out a few more times, hoping to squeeze out any extra information.
But Shane hadn’t been mentally stable when he approached that man, so there was nothing new to learn.
Meanwhile, Nelson had developed several types of poison.
Some even used byproducts from the giant fish–the kind of fish stew that could cause extreme depression or death.
He also added Goldenlock’s toxins. That lazy snake who slept all day had finally been useful for
once.

During those two days, Hornvale base also received a flood of updates from other areas.
Most of it involved the Sea Folk.
The medicine Nelson had developed earlier was already being mass–produced and sent to frontline units.
Reports said it worked incredibly well.
Once the meds were deployed, humans were no longer stuck just defending themselves. They could finally face the Sea Folk directly.
Two days later, three Sea Folk corpses were delivered to the Hornvale base.
They were sent straight to Nelson for research.
The earlier medicine had only been a trial version. The military believed that with real bodies to study, Nelson could make something even better.
As soon as he heard the news, he rushed out of his space.
He wore a white lab coat and gloves, moving fast and focused.
When the three bodies were placed in front of him, his eyes practically lit up.
Caroline could practically see him reaching for a scalpel.
That night, Nelson started the autopsies.
Once he began, he didn’t leave the room for two whole days.
Caroline went in twice to remind him to eat, but she never once saw him sleep.
Despite the lack of rest, he showed no signs of exhaustion. If anything, his eyes looked even sharper.
Caroline knew he must have found something important.
This morning, sunlight woke her up.
She also noticed the air felt much hotter than before.
Looking out the window, she realized the sandstorm had ended.
With the wind and sand gone, the great heat returned.
