Chapter 687 I’m Gonna Die

Chapter 687 I’m Gonna Die

That information was critical. It could directly change how they handled the next encounter with the Sea Folk.

Caroline hurried to pass the news on to Nelson.

When he heard it, his eyes widened. So that’s it.Then, he dove straight back into his research.

The next day, he finally stepped out of his room. It was rare for him to end his research on his own and come out. He still hadn’t found a way to counter the Sea Folk’s corpsecontrolling ability. Standing there with his messy hair, he looked at Caroline and said in frustration, If we want to deal with their ability, we’d have to work with the corpses. But there are too many out there. We can’t treat every one of them. And corpses don’t actively take in medicine, so

Basically, it was unsolvable.

Caroline wasn’t disappointed, though. She lightly patted his shoulder. It’s fine. We’re not even afraid of killing peoplewe won’t flinch at corpses.

Another day passed, and finally, a military aircraft arrived at the base.

According to Francis, a single aircraft was more valuable than manpower. Getting one just for Caroline’s group cost him a lot of effort and favors.

After saying that, he even winked at her. Caroline, when you see Kay againHehe.

He didn’t finish, but Caroline understood and replied helplessly, I know, I know.”

Still, he was just joking. He’d been so busy that he was on the verge of collapse.

Whenever he had even a moment to breathe, Kay’s face would pop into his head, and he’d quickly shove the thought aside. He didn’t have room for distractions. There was just too much work.

Before they left, Caroline placed Nelson into her space and told him that if something urgent came up, he could ask Jasper to shake it so she’d notice.

Nelson nodded lightly.

Shane hadn’t talked much over the past

few days.

Knowing he’d soon be heading back to the desert, it was like someone had hit a pause button on him. He became quiet and distant.

He hardly even spoke to Nelson.

20 Free Coins

After recovering from his illness, Shane was still obsessed with cupcakes, but he felt like a sword that had been returned to its sheath. It was hard to picture how wild he’d been before.

He also stopped being messy. No more filthy clothes or random streaking around. Now he kept himself clean and neat. His teeth were brushed and his clothes were tidy, so much so that it almost felt strange.

The soldier piloting the aircraft was a shy young guy, around Haroldson’s age. When everyone boarded the helicopter, he smiled shyly, saluted, and quickly took off.

As they departed, Francis stood below, watching. He shouted, Caroline! Come back in a few days and tell me everything! I’m really curious about that man you mentioned!

Caroline waved lightly, signaling for him to get back to work.

By then, the aircraft was already in the air, the engines roaring louder as it climbed.

This aircraft was nothing like the smooth passenger planes people used to fly on.

It shook constantly.

As soon as they sat down, the entire cabin rattled and trembled. No one could tell whether something was wrong or if helicopters were just built like that.

Before boarding, Caroline had briefly looked over the aircraft Francis had arranged. It was old, like it had been dug out of a junkyard and hastily pieced back together.

The army didn’t have much to spare. Having a helicopter at all was already impressive.

But this one was truly awful.

Especially during turns. Caroline felt like her organs were about to get tossed out of her body.

She was fine, though. Tyler didn’t seem bothered at all.
