Two hours later, Mia collapsed unconscious in the heavy snow.

The bodyguard, seeing her blue-tinged face, rushed to report to Dominic.

“Mr. Cross, your wife has fainted.”

Without looking up, Dominic said coldly:

“Pour water on her. Make her keep kneeling.”

“She’s having kidney surgery in a couple days. She won’t die now.”

A bucket of ice water splashed across Mia’s face. She jolted awake, coughing violently.

Her body had reached its limit, but it was still daylight.

She silently calculated the time-she didn’t want to keep the funeral home waiting too long.

In the hospital room, Letty’s eyes were swollen red from crying as she clung tightly to Dominic’s embrace.

“Dominic, our child is gone.”

Dominic gently stroked her hair in comfort:

“Don’t be afraid. We can have another.”

“You’ve suffered so much for me. I won’t let your tears be in vain.”

But Letty grew even more distraught, touching her now-flat stomach as she sobbed.

“But I have no title, no status. Now even the child is gone. What am I? I might as well have died with the baby…”

He immediately interrupted her.

“Letty, don’t talk nonsense.”

But she pulled away from his embrace, looking at him through her tears:

“Dominic, is there any chance in this lifetime that I could replace Mia and become your real wife?”

Dominic fell silent for a moment.

The bodyguard knocked again, his voice urgent.

“Mr. Cross, your wife has fainted again. She won’t wake up no matter what we do.”

Dominic frowned and finally left the room, looking down at Mia collapsed on the ground.

Her face was deathly pale, lips blue, the thin white dress soaked with snow water and clinging to her frighteningly thin frame.

“Get any doctor to check on her. Just don’t let her die.”

Letty bit her lip.

“I want her to personally hold our child’s ashes and scatter them into the ocean!”

“I want her to live in guilt for the rest of her life! This is what she owes me!”

He looked at her and finally nodded.

“Alright.”

After being awakened by an injection, Mia was taken aboard a boat before she could recover.

When her fingers were too frozen to extend, a bodyguard placed a small urn in her hands.

Dominic stood beside her, his gaze cold.

Letty was wrapped in a thick down coat, her face pale and eyes swollen, looking ready to faint at any moment.

When the boat reached the middle of the ocean, he commanded.

“Begin.”

Mia took a deep breath and shakily walked toward the deck’s edge, the wind making her sway precariously.

Looking down at the urn in her hands, she suddenly found it laughable.

In this life, she’d harmed her parents and grandmother, and brought herself to such a wretched state.

Would they laugh at her when they met again?

Letty suddenly approached her, her voice gentle.

“Mia, how does it feel to personally conduct the sea burial for mine and Dominic’s child?”

Ignoring the provocation, Mia silently opened the urn’s lid.

But in the next second, Letty suddenly bumped into her hard.

The urn slipped from Mia’s hands, falling into the sea and instantly swept away by the waves.

Letty screamed and made as if to jump after it.

Dominic quickly pulled her back.

“Letty, it’s dangerous!”

He turned to glare at Mia, his expression dark.

“You did that on purpose!”

“Mia, don’t test my limits!”

Looking at him, Mia suddenly smiled.

She couldn’t believe he hadn’t seen Letty deliberately ram into her with full force.

“Yes, I did it on purpose.”

“Just like she purposely hit me.”

Letty in Dominic’s arms was nearly fainting from tears. He wrapped his arms around her waist, no longer bothering to hide their relationship.

“Retrieve it.”

Mia shook her head.

“It can’t be retrieved.”

He shouted harshly:” Then jump down and find it!”

She looked at him with terrifyingly calm eyes.

“Alright.”

With that, she climbed over the deck railing and leaped.

The sea instantly swallowed Mia whole. The white dress flashed briefly on the surface before sinking deep into the ocean.

Dominic rushed to the railing in shock, only catching sight of the last corner of her white dress.

He never imagined she would actually jump!

“Mia!”

Letty suddenly clutched her chest, her face pale as she called for help:” Dominic, I feel terrible…”

Dominic hesitated for a moment, looking at the bottomless sea before finally gritting his teeth:

“Leave a small boat. Send two sailors to rescue Mia. She can swim-she should be fine for now.”

“Turn the ship around immediately and call for an ambulance to wait at shore!”

The ship sped toward shore, but he didn’t know that despite being able to swim, Mia had already given up struggling, quietly letting the seawater engulf her.

Her consciousness gradually blurred until everything went dark.
