Dominic rushed Letty back to the hospital. After examination, the doctor said she was merely emotionally distressed with no serious physical problems.

He sat by her bedside, watching Letty’s pale face and gently holding her hand.

In her sleep, tears streamed down her cheeks as she weakly called out:

“Dominic, please don’t leave, okay?”

“I’m so scared…”

He whispered soothingly, but inexplicable panic surged in his heart.

Outside the window, night fell deep, the sound of ocean waves still echoing in his ears.

He recalled the resolute yet calm look in Mia’s eyes before she jumped, his heart clenching suddenly.

“Letty, rest first. I need to make a phone call.”

He gently withdrew his hand and left the room.

In the corridor, he dialed his assistant.

“Have you found her?”

The voice on the other end hesitated, mixed with the sound of waves and wind.

“Mr. Cross, we’re still searching!”

“The sea is too dark to see anything! The waves are huge at night. We’ve deployed ten more yachts, but…”

Dominic frowned, his voice carrying urgency:” Keep looking!”

“She’s an excellent swimmer. Nothing could have happened to her.”

Hanging up, he rubbed his temples in frustration.

Mia had once won provincial swimming championships. That stretch of water should be nothing to her.

She must have done it deliberately-jumped on purpose, hiding somewhere just to make him worry.

“The kidney surgery is in two days. She couldn’t possibly not show up.”

He muttered to himself, trying to convince himself, but the unease in his heart only intensified.

Sitting in the chair, his gaze fell on the accumulating snow outside, but his mind kept replaying Mia’s final smile.

That smile was foreign to him.

As if she’d seen through everything, yet cared about nothing.

But he immediately dismissed the thought. How could she not care?

Years ago, she’d loved him to madness. When she learned his family had gone bankrupt, she’d come to him directly with a huge sum of cash.

“Dominic, I’ll help you rebuild your business. Whatever capital you need, I can provide.”

“I don’t need you to repay me anything. Just pull yourself together and live like yourself again.”

He still remembered her sparkling eyes, filled entirely with his reflection.

Even if it were the end of the world, he’d bet that Mia could never leave him!

The next morning, Dominic arranged for a caregiver to look after Letty and drove home.

Pushing open the door, the house was silent.

He tentatively called “Mia” twice. No response.

Walking into the bedroom, his eyes swept the walls and suddenly noticed something wrong.

The wedding photo that had occupied an entire wall was gone!

He rushed out of the bedroom only to discover that all their photos together from the coffee table and display cabinets in the living room had

He couldn’t believe Mia would bear to part with them!

His phone suddenly rang-it was Letty.

Her voice was tearful:” Dominic, where did you go?”

“I had a nightmare about our child. Could you come back and stay with me…”

Standing in the living room, he kept scanning every corner. The empty house showed no trace of Mia anywhere.

Letty’s voice came through the phone, but he only responded mechanically:

“Alright, I’ll be right back.”

Returning to the hospital, Letty threw herself into his arms, sobbing.

He patted her back soothingly but seemed absent-minded.

Letty looked up with tearful eyes.

“Dominic, something’s bothering you?”

“Is it because Mia can’t be found? She’s okay, isn’t she?”

He thought of his assistant’s recent call-still no news of Mia whatsoever.

Seeing him shake his head, Letty lowered her eyes, hiding a flash of joy.

“She must be fine. Mia was a swimming prodigy who almost made the national team. She must have swum ashore and hidden because she

doesn’t like me and doesn’t want to see me, so she hasn’t contacted you.”

“The kidney surgery is coming up soon, isn’t it? She couldn’t possibly not show up. Don’t worry.”

He forced a smile.

Over the next two days, he forced himself to focus on caring for Letty, but whenever night fell and silence descended, the scene of Mia jumping into the sea would flash through his mind.

He kept telling himself she would definitely return for the surgery-nothing could have happened to her.

She was just throwing a tantrum to scare him.
