Chapter 7
In everyone’s eyes, Isabella was Jackson’s perfect wife.
When I left him, she was the one who stayed. She stood by his side through everything, helped him secure funding, pulled him back from the
edge.
So Jackson married her. Gave her everything.
But she was a snake. And she only showed her fangs to me.
“I leaked that video. Consider it a little punishment~”
“You think I didn’t know Jackson went to see you that night at the bar?”
She slammed her marriage certificate down on the table in front of me, eyes blazing.
“You just can’t leave, can you? Trying to play games and sneak into our marriage as some shameless homewrecker?”
I looked up at her, voice flat.
“I didn’t ask him to come. And you know exactly how you got this certificate. You don’t get to play Mrs. Reed with me.”
Three years ago, Jackson’s startup was failing. He was on the verge of bankruptcy.
I went everywhere, begged everyone I knew, trying to help him survive.
Isabella said she had a way. She introduced me to one of her father’s friends-a bank executive.
But what I didn’t know was that she was pimping me out.
Isabella got her hands on my raped video. And my cancer diagnosis.
“You’re dying anyway. But Jackson still has to live. You said you wanted to help him, right? You said you loved him. Then help him. With your
body.”
**”With this video, he won’t dare refuse Jackson’s loan application. I said I’d help you-I never said how. You agreed to it yourself. You’re dying anyway, so why are you still pretending to care about your precious little virtue?”
“What matters more to you-Jackson’s survival, or your pathetic sense of dignity?”
Then she threw a stack of photos at me. Successful men. Wealthy men. Powerful men.
“What’s the difference between once, twice, or 100 times? You’re already ruined-can’t be his pure love anymore. So at least make yourself useful. Use your body. Seduce them.”
“Or should I send this video to him?”
“With Jackson’s mental state right now? He’d lose it. He’d go completely insane. He might even kill that man-or himself.”
I locked myself in my room for three days, like a corpse.
Depression wrapped around me like a noose, tightening every second. I felt like I was rotting from the inside out.
Finally, I picked up those photos.

While Isabella was by Jackson’s side-comforting him, encouraging him, introducing him to investors-I was underneath men, turning myself into a whore, all so one more person might fund his company.
“But even after all that, he still couldn’t forget you! Do you know how many times I’ve caught him staring at your picture? What the hell do you have that I don’t, Ava?! I’m his wife! Me!”
Isabella’s face twisted with rage, her voice climbing higher, more unhinged.
“If I can’t have his heart, then I’ll destroy you!”
She suddenly laughed-sharp, manic, unhinged.
“Go ahead! Go tell Jackson the truth! Explain yourself! Clear your name! But if you destroy me, you destroy him too! Let him know how he built his empire-on your back, on your body! Let him live with that guilt for the rest of his miserable life!”
She grabbed me by the collar, shaking me, her voice cracking into a scream.
“You have cancer, don’t you?! You’re dying, aren’t you?! Then just fucking die already!”
“Why are you still here?! Why won’t you just disappear?!”
