Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 134

Lennon had never been insistent with her before, but tonight, unexpectedly, he wouldn't take no for an answer.

In the end, Seren found herself inching toward the edge of the bed.

She sat quietly with her back to Lennon, slim as a reed, the tips of her ears tinged pink.

Lennon's expression was gentle, almost tender.

As he dried her hair, he casually slipped his hand between the blow dryer and her hair, shielding her from the heat.

That way, he could feel the air first, making sure it wasn't too hot before it reached her.

The air was warm, not harsh, and Lennon's movements were gentle and careful.

At first, Seren's back was stiff, her whole posture tense and awkward.

But as the minutes passed, her eyes drifted closed and she let herself relax, sinking into the comfort of the moment.

The soft whir of the blow dryer filled the quiet, not noisy at all, but somehow soothing—a simple, tranquil peace.

She realized, quite suddenly, how much she liked being around Lennon.

It felt so natural, so safe, so warm.

Seaside City.

The Bradley family was gathered around the dinner table.

Usually, their dinners were filled with laughter and easy conversation, but tonight the atmosphere was heavy, and no one said a word.

It was Carla's bright voice that finally broke the silence.

"Seren was a special guest on a popular variety show today. She claimed on air that one of the country's rising stars had presented her own childhood art—something Seren herself drew for a contest when she was nine years old."

Carla spoke as if she were just making a casual observation. "People online are tearing her apart, saying she's exaggerating."

Thurman frowned. "Seren's becoming more and more outrageous."

Zena, slicing her steak with practiced elegance, didn't bother to look up. She just let out a derisive snort.

"It's not like this is the first time she's embarrassed us in public."

Slater kept silent, head down, shoveling food into his mouth.

Only now was he starting to notice just how much Zena and Thurman resented Seren.

Carla had merely stated a simple fact, yet Zena and Thurman were eager to join the chorus of outsiders criticizing Seren.

No one else knew that Seren was exceptionally gifted at art—except Zena and Thurman, who knew perfectly well.

"I'm done," Swain said suddenly.

With a sharp clatter, he set down his knife and fork and left the table without another word.

Carla glanced after him, then looked at Slater, who continued to eat in silence, quick and mechanical. She bit her lip, unsure.

Thurman sighed.

He'd thought that once Seren cut ties with the family, things at The Mountain Retreat would finally return to normal.
