Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 164

Seren instinctively shook her head, a hint of guilt flickering in her eyes.

"I don't really care that much," she said, trying to sound casual. "I was just curious about your past, that's all."

Lennon stood up from the armchair, his long legs carrying him over to the coffee table. He picked up his mug, slender fingers curling around the handle, took a thoughtful sip, then set it down again.

He looked up at her, his tone calm and unhurried.

"No, I've never dated anyone," he said. "Back in school, I was always busy with classes. Once I started working, it was all about my career. I never really had time for relationships."

His voice was gentle, his expression so earnest and open that it was easy to believe him.

Seren nodded, not doubting him for a second.

Honestly, she wasn't much different from him. When she was apprenticing with Mr. Shaw, learning traditional painting, she'd spent nearly all her time in the studio. People always talked about young love in your teenage years—how bright and passionate it was supposed to be. But for her, most of those years were spent focused solely on improving her technique. Romance just never fit into her schedule.

Not that she felt she'd missed out. Life always had a way of balancing things out; what you lost would be returned to you in another form. Ten years of dedication had given her the skill she had now, and to her, that was worth it.

Lennon fell silent for a moment, then his gaze settled on her face.

He continued quietly, "So, Mrs. Crestwell, you're my first love."

His voice was steady and tender, his eyes blazing with an intensity that made Seren blush. She ducked her head, unsure how to respond, her heart pounding in her chest.

She liked Lennon, that much was true. But she was never the type to shout her feelings from the rooftops. Even earlier, when she'd spoken up in front of everyone, it had only been to make sure Sheridan finally gave up hope.

Just then, the boarding announcement echoed through the lounge, mercifully cutting through the awkwardness.
