Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 213

It was Sheridan.

From the looks of it, he had been waiting downstairs all night. Seren felt no sympathy, only a profound sense of exasperation. Did he really have nothing better to do?

Sheridan had spent the entire night there, dozing on a bench when he was tired and stomping his feet to stay warm when he was cold. He hadn't slept a wink. When he saw people coming out of the building, he instinctively looked up. The sight of Seren holding another man’s arm, looking so affectionate, was like a punch to the gut. His pupils contracted sharply. He had seen it before, but each time felt like a hand was squeezing his heart, making it impossible to breathe.

*No, this can't be real.* He was certain it was all an act, that she was just trying to make him angry. Her talk of marriage was just a ploy, a childish tantrum. The Seren he knew would never find another man and get married so quickly. After three years together, he was sure he knew her inside and out.

Seren, holding Lennon’s arm, walked right up to Sheridan. Before he could speak, she began, her voice calm and clear. "Mr. Powers, I'd like to introduce you to my husband, Lennon."

*Husband?* Sheridan's eyes widened in disbelief. In their three years together, Seren had never once called him that.

Seren then took a formal invitation from her bag and handed it to him. "This is for you," she said politely. "We'd be happy if you could attend our wedding."

*Invitation? Wedding?* The words swirled in his mind like a tornado, leaving him dazed and confused. He mechanically took the invitation. The red card with its gold-leaf lettering and the large, gleaming "Double Happiness" character in the center seared his eyes.
