Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 219

After lunch, Lennon called his assistant to pick him up. While they waited, Seren went for a walk with the Dowager, who liked to stroll after meals to aid her digestion and chat with the neighbors. Old Mr. Crestwell seized the opportunity to pull Lennon into the study for more tea and another talk about the young couple.

"Seren has been through a lot," the old man said sternly. "She chose you, so you'd better be responsible for her."

Lennon took a sip of tea. "Grandfather, that's the fourth time you've said that today. Do you really think so little of your grandson?"

Old Mr. Crestwell snorted as he refilled the teapot. "If you were so reliable, would you have let my granddaughter-in-law suffer in Riverbend City for three years? I told you not to go on that overseas trip, but you wouldn't listen."

Lennon had no comeback for that. He was undeniably at fault.

"How long is this business trip?"

"Five to seven days."

"Aren't you worried that kid from the Powers family will come back and bother Seren?"

"He already did," Lennon said calmly. "He stood outside our building all night. I warned him. He should have given up and gone home by now."

That seemed to appease the old man slightly. "Good. I still suspect that boy hired someone to push her into the sea back then just so he could play the hero and trick her into falling for him."

Lennon was silent for a moment. "And then he staged a car accident to make himself look like a tragic victim?"

"Of course," Old Mr. Crestwell said with conviction. "Things like that don't just happen by coincidence."
