What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 303

Simon Quinn was a man of status and influence. Did he have zero boundaries? Sleeping in a married woman's apartment—was that how a decent man behaved?

In the kitchen, Layla was equally shaken. Why on earth did Kaia have a man sleeping in her study? And to announce it so casually right in front of her husband? It was a blatant disregard for Finnian's pride. Layla feared this marriage was truly speeding toward a cliff.

While Kaia played with Brynlee in the bedroom, the study door clicked open. Simon, refreshed after an hour's sleep, walked out. He froze when he saw Finnian sitting on the sofa instead of Kaia.

Finnian's gaze locked onto him. "Sleep well, Mr. Quinn?" he asked, his tone deceptively mild but dripping with venom.

Simon flushed. The underlying accusation was loud and clear.

Just then, Kaia stepped out of the bedroom, holding Brynlee's hand. "You're awake," she said to Simon. "Come have some tea."

Simon took a seat on one of the armchairs. Brynlee greeted him politely. "Mr. Quinn, why did you come alone? Where's Anna?"

Simon smiled warmly. "Anna is staying with her mom abroad right now. She won't be back until school starts."

"Oh, right," Brynlee sighed. "I miss her." She looked up at Kaia. "Mommy, can you take me abroad to visit Anna when you have time?"

Kaia was momentarily surprised but smiled. "Sure, sweetheart. I'll take you when I get some time off."

Simon was equally surprised that she had agreed so easily.

Sitting nearby, sipping his tea, Finnian caught the subtext immediately. If Kaia took Brynlee to see Anna, Simon would inevitably be there. She was essentially inviting him on a family vacation. And judging by the look on Simon's face, he had caught the hint too.

"Yay! Daddy, are you coming too?" Brynlee asked, entirely oblivious to the adult tension suffocating the room. To her, a trip with both her parents was the greatest thing in the world.

Finnian stared at Kaia, his gaze dark and heavy, before turning to Simon and answering his daughter. "Of course. I'll make sure I'm available."

Kaia rolled her eyes at his brazen response. Who invited him?
