Kaia quickly replied: "Sounds good, Miles. See you tomorrow."

Miles's face lit up with joy. Now, when he asked Kaia out to eat, he finally didn't have to worry about Finnian's existence.

The next at noon, Kaia received the address for lunch. It was a restaurant on the third floor of a hotel. Miles mentioned the food there was fantastic and wanted her to try it.

The lobby on the first floor of the hotel was bustling with people. The light from the crystal chandelier shone brightly on the marble floor.

As Kaia walked past an indoor rockery and pool, she suddenly heard a splash, followed by a child's loud wailing.

She turned her head and saw a three- or four-year-old boy thrashing in the water. The pool wasn't deep, but the child was terrified, flailing his little arms and unable to climb out.

Without a second thought, Kaia jumped into the pool and pulled the boy out. The water reached just past her calves, soaking the hem of her pants and most of her trench coat. The chill made her shiver.

The child's parents rushed over from the lounge area. Seeing their son drenched, their faces turned pale with fright. They scolded the boy for running off while profusely thanking Kaia.

Kaia waved it off, telling them it was fine and urging them to get the child into dry clothes immediately.

The parents hurriedly left to change the boy's clothes. Kaia looked down at her shoes and pants, which were soaked and clinging uncomfortably to her legs.

Just then, a cold breeze swept in from the revolving door, and a tall figure hurried over. "Kaia, what happened?"

Kaia turned and saw Miles. She managed a small smile. "A kid fell into the pool. I pulled him out and got my clothes wet."

Miles took in her pale, shivering form and didn't waste time asking questions. He gently supported her arm. "Come on. I'll get you a room so you can take a hot shower. We can't have you catching a cold."

Kaia was too freezing to protest.

Miles booked a room. Leaning against the elevator wall, Kaia wrapped her arms around herself, the cold water on her legs biting into her skin.
