What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 561

Kaia remained silent, but her gaze was sharp, as if she could see through any scheme or plot.

Finnian's dark eyes locked onto her face. For some reason, when she looked at him with such intense focus, his mind went blank. He completely forgot what he was going to say. He only felt that her eyes were too beautiful, enough to make a man lose his reason.

"Finnian, don't give me that pitiful look. I'm not your wife anymore, and I'm not part of the Sanders family. Whatever happens to the conglomerate has nothing to do with me. I'm only here to handle the technical side of things." Kaia thought it was an illusion at first, but looking closely, she realized Finnian was actually showing vulnerability in front of her.

This had never happened before. In the past, his attitude and decisions had always been dominant and unquestionable.

A flash of embarrassment crossed Finnian's handsome face, and his ears burned slightly.

It was true—she was no longer his wife. He shouldn't be playing the emotional card or using moral obligation to tie her down.

Finnian lowered his gaze. After a moment of silence, he said, "You won't be doing this for nothing. In terms of benefits, you can name your terms."

Kaia raised an eyebrow. She knew he wasn't finished and waited for him to continue.

Meeting her eyes, Finnian spoke in a low, steady voice. "Equity. You will hold thirteen percent of the new company as technology shares. You won't need to invest any capital."

"Once you take over the R&D department, you will set the annual budget. The conglomerate won't impose a cap. As for personnel, you have full authority over key positions. The conglomerate will only keep records, not require approvals. And..." Finnian paused thoughtfully before adding, "You can also freely choose the location of the R&D center."

These were incredibly tempting offers. Thirteen percent equity, an uncapped budget, independent hiring authority, and even the power to choose the location—he was handing it all over to her.

Finnian's sudden generosity made her suspicious that he had some ulterior motive.

But for any R&D director, these terms were enough to make a heart race.

Finnian watched her without blinking.

He had offered a price far beyond her expectations. Would she agree?

"After two years, I have my own plans. When that time comes, I expect you not to stand in my way."

Looking into her clear, bright eyes, Finnian murmured a response. "Okay."

He wondered who else was part of those plans of hers.

It certainly wouldn't be him anymore.

"Before I sign the contract, I have three more conditions," Kaia said suddenly.

A flicker of doubt crossed Finnian's face before he smiled. He should have expected she would have demands. She wasn't one to get the short end of the stick.

He turned, sitting back in his leather chair. Leaning lazily against the backrest, his dark eyes locked onto her. "Tell me."
