Noelle wiped the expression from her face, opened the car door, and sat inside in silence.
She felt full of schemes, yet completely powerless to execute any of them.
It was an incredibly suffocating feeling.
But having reached this point, if she didn't put on an act and cause a scene, she feared she might never see Finnian again for the rest of her life.
"Assistant Dexter, do even you think my love for him is fake?" Noelle watched the car turn the corner and exit the villa gates, an overwhelming anxiety gnawing at her chest.
"Whether it's real or fake, you can fool someone for a moment, but not for a lifetime. Take care of yourself, Ms. Lawrence," Dexter warned her in a low voice.
"Is it just because my academic achievements don't match Kaia's? Because I don't come from a highly educated family? My looks are on par with hers, and I'm hardworking and resourceful..."
"Ms. Lawrence, did you see the opening ceremony for Constance Pharma a few days ago? Dr. Chavez is already operating on an entirely different level. Comparing yourself to her is just a slap in your own face." Dexter scoffed. Given the current circumstances, it was laughable that she still harbored such immature thoughts.
Being reminded of that stung Noelle deeply.
She had seen the viral video of Kaia's speech on stage. She had also seen the predatory, focused way Finnian had stared at Kaia from the audience.
It was precisely because she had seen it that she had panicked and decided to ambush him at his door tonight.
Unfortunately, her old tricks didn't work on him anymore.
What would it take to break down his defenses?
Or was his heart and his vision entirely consumed by Kaia now?
Finnian had locked himself in his study for nearly two hours. The Constance Pharma year-end planning documents were spread open on his desk, but he couldn't process a single word.
Dexter quickly replied, "It's been sent out, exactly as you instructed."
Finnian gave a short hum of acknowledgment and ended the call.
It was nearing the end of the year, and major corporations were all preparing for the holidays.
An internal Official Dismissal Notice circulated throughout the company, detailing the managerial negligence of Noelle Lawrence during her tenure as head of Aethelstan Medical under The Sanders Conglomerate.
The wording was strictly formal. It stated that during her time overseeing Aethelstan Medical, Noelle Lawrence had demonstrated gross managerial negligence, causing severe issues across multiple research projects and resulting in massive financial losses for the conglomerate. The Board of Directors resolved to take the following actions: One, remove her from all positions within the conglomerate; Two, revoke her equity incentive eligibility, with her shares to be repurchased by the group at their original value; Three, effective immediately, Noelle Lawrence would no longer hold any position within The Sanders Conglomerate or its subsidiaries, nor would she hold any shares.
With that, Noelle's eighteen years of history and grievances with the Sanders family were wiped out in one stroke.
Crash! The phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor as Noelle collapsed beside the table. Pearl let out a piercing scream, "Noelle!"

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
