What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 613

A sharp ache flared in Kaia's chest. Anyone who had ever loved someone from afar knew the bitterness of it. Harboring unspoken feelings, holding onto them behind closed doors, offering carefully planned surprises only to receive a polite "thank you"—of course it hurt.

"So you didn't marry him for money or status; you married him for him. Yet in seven years, you never managed to reach his heart or earn his genuine affection. You're such a failure, Kaia. You might be a powerhouse in the corporate world, but when it comes to keeping a man, you really can't compete with me." Noelle sounded absurdly smug, her eyes flashing with mockery.

"Are women supposed to drop dead without men?" Kaia retorted coldly. "Women run the world now. We don't need to orbit around men to survive."

"Maybe so, but the fact remains that you couldn't make him love you after seven years. That's a massive failure," Noelle said, her disdainful smirk lingering.

Kaia didn't feel the need to argue over this. "Failing once is nothing. It's much worse to fail at being a decent human being, like some people."

Noelle's smile vanished. She glared at Kaia venomously. "I was kicked out because of you! If it weren't for you, I'd still be the beloved daughter of the Sanders family—"

"No, it has nothing to do with me," Kaia cut in sharply. "You were too greedy. Your true colors showed, and the elders finally saw you for what you are. You're incredibly shameless, Noelle. You demand everything from others while giving nothing yourself. You blame everyone else but refuse to take any responsibility. Being around someone like you is terrifying."

Noelle choked on her words, her face flushing with rage.

Kaia walked right past her. "Why don't you use your seductive tricks to win Finnian back? He's single now. Isn't this your big chance?"

Noelle paled. She had the chance, but Finnian despised her now.
