"Did you get the results? Let me see," Noelle demanded, reaching for the envelope, but Gordon pressed his hand down on it.
"I pulled some strings at the institute," Gordon said softly. "The position you wanted... they don't need anyone right now."
Noelle froze, her expression darkening.
Seeing her crushed look, Gordon tried to soften the blow. "They said your professional background doesn't quite align with their current research focus..."
Noelle became agitated. "Who gets to decide if I'm a match? The suits in the HR office? Yes, I had some issues at Aethelstan, but they can't deny my technical expertise!"
"Noelle, calm down."
Noelle buried her face in her hands, her voice breaking. "Is it because of the Sanders family? Did Finnian say something to the institute?"
Gordon shook his head. "I highly doubt it. Mr. Sanders isn't the type to do that."
Noelle's face shifted. She looked toward the private dining rooms on the second floor. "If it wasn't Finnian, then was it Kaia?"

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
