What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 618

Just then, a middle-aged man descended the staircase. It was Simon's father, Preston Quinn. At fifty, he was well-maintained and possessed the commanding, dignified aura of a seasoned politician.

Looking at Preston, Kaia couldn't help but think this was exactly how Simon would look at fifty—distinguished and imposing.

She subconsciously glanced at Simon. Catching her eye, he smiled and headed for the kitchen. A moment later, he returned with a platter of freshly peeled fruit. "Come sit down. Have some fruit."

Linda watched her son acting so attentively and beamed with inward delight. Just as expected, the presence of his crush made him vastly more perceptive.

Kaia sat on the sofa. Preston poured her a cup of tea, and Simon sat down beside her, joining the conversation.

Preston was visibly impressed when he learned of Kaia's recent professional milestones. It was genuinely admirable for such a young woman to achieve so much in the corporate world.

He had known for a while that his son was carrying a torch for someone, but due to his constant business trips, he had never met her. Seeing Kaia today, he realized that if his son managed to win her over, he'd be an incredibly lucky man.

"Dad, Kaia and I are going to check on the girls. They probably hid in Anna's room," Simon said.

"Go ahead," Preston replied smoothly, perfectly willing to give the younger pair some privacy.

Simon led the way upstairs, and Kaia followed. They reached a playroom where the cheerful chatter of the two girls drifted out; it sounded like they were already deep into a game of house.

Simon guided Kaia out onto the balcony and invited her to sit down while he went back to grab the tea and fruit. Kaia settled into the chair, taking in the view of the grounds.
