What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 626

Julian looked down at her tear-filled, red eyes, seeing how fragile she looked.

In the past, he would have immediately pulled her into a tight embrace to give her a sense of security.

But now, he only felt an indescribable exhaustion weighing heavily on his chest.

"Did you ever choose me?" he asked quietly.

Noelle froze.

"You never chose me," Julian said slowly, staring right into her red eyes. "You only kept me around as a backup plan. And now that you have zero chance with Finnian, you finally thought of me. Noelle, I used to happily play the role of your second choice because I thought you were wonderful and worth the wait. But discovering that the person I loved wasn't a flawless gem, but just a defective stone... it makes all that waiting completely meaningless."

All the color drained from Noelle's face. "Julian, it's not like that, I—"

Julian gently pried her fingers off his arm and said flatly, "Let's just end it here. Don't contact me again."

Noelle stood rigidly in place as her tears fell frantically. Her lips trembled, but she couldn't formulate a single word.

Furious and unwilling to accept defeat, she chased him out the door and grabbed his sleeve. "Am I really that repulsive? Why are you treating me like this? How can you do this to me when I'm at my lowest and need you the most?!"

Julian had wanted to end the relationship with some dignity, but Noelle refused to let go.

His voice turned frigid. "Don't you have enough fish in your pond? Noelle, you've never truly loved anyone, have you? Even Finnian was just a Prop Character for you to secure your status in the Sanders family. Since you don't even have a heart, why do you desperately force others to give you theirs?"
