Kaia paused. Taking the basket, she realized it was filled with perfume, high-end cosmetics, jewelry, and two designer handbags.

By now, Finnian was leaning against the doorframe, watching the mother and daughter.

"Dad, why didn't you just give them to Mom? Why did you hide them in my pile and make me open them for her?" Brynlee looked at him, full of childish curiosity.

Finnian's dark eyes fixed on Kaia as he spoke in a low voice, "I was afraid Mom wouldn't accept my gifts, so I had to trouble you to open them."

"Mom, why wouldn't you accept them? These are all so pretty. I already cut the packaging, so we can't return them now," Brynlee said earnestly, blinking her large eyes.

Kaia shot Finnian a furious glare. What a scheming man.

"Mom already has these things at home; I don't need this much," Kaia said.

"But your vanity table is missing a lot of makeup, and you barely have any jewelry left. I saw it." Brynlee wasn't a three-year-old anymore. When Kaia moved out of the villa, she had only taken a fraction of her belongings.

"Mom doesn't need that much jewelry, and I don't need bags," Kaia replied softly.
