What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 644

Kaia was stunned, staring at him blankly.

Simon smiled at her, then bowed reverently three times toward the altar.

A wave of warmth flowed through Kaia's heart, followed closely by a deep sense of guilt.

Simon was an incredibly thoughtful man; she had always known this.

Even though she had agreed to date him properly, he was always the one taking the initiative, making the effort, and caring for her.

Meanwhile, she had merely paid lip service to the idea of a relationship. It felt more like she had given him a chance without actually stepping into it herself.

Simon never complained. He just waited quietly, giving her the time she needed to come to him willingly.

Thinking of this, Kaia's guilt deepened. She shouldn't treat his feelings so lightly.

She needed to show real sincerity and commitment, rather than leaving him standing there waiting for her alone.

Kaia wasn't sure what came over her, but on a sudden impulse, she turned her head, tilted her chin up, and pressed a soft kiss to Simon's cheek.

Simon was caught completely off guard, turning his head to look at her in astonishment.

Kaia pursed her lips into a bright smile. "With the heavens as my witness, I am completely sincere."

A vibrant, intense joy sparked in Simon's eyes.

Kaia teased playfully, "What, are you stunned? Aren't you going to make a promise to the heavens too?"

Simon didn't pull her in for a kiss. Instead, he simply reached out and gently brushed his knuckles against her soft cheek. "I promise to take good care of you."

Kaia froze. Those were just a few short words, yet they carried immense weight.

A lump formed in her throat, and a tear slipped from the corner of her eye. She bit her lip and nodded. "Yeah, I know."

Simon's lips curved upward in a gentle, deeply affectionate smile.

Kaia sniffled and looked up at the statues, her heart suddenly feeling incredibly light and free.
