Early the next morning, the staff at Fost Manor began to busy themselves with decorating the manor and making preparations for Andrew's birthday party.
After returning from the amusement park yesterday, Stephen had shut himself in his study and hadn't come out since.
Opening a drawer at his desk, he took out a document that had been kept within. It was his father's will, clearly detailing the condition for becoming the Fost family heir and inheriting the company shares.
As he stared at the will, Stephen finally felt a burden lift from his shoulders. At last, he would gain complete control over Fost Group.
There was an unchanging rule in the Fost family, passed down through the generations. Only those with an heir could inherit their father's shares and truly become the head of the family.
Since Stephen's father had died young, he could only add this rule to his will.
To inherit the family business, Stephen had no choice but to comply with the will of the family elders.
Nonetheless, when he thought of Natania, he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. He knew that this decision was undoubtedly the deepest wound he could ever inflict on her, but he was genuinely out of options.
"How's the situation at home? When is Tania coming over?"
Nathan, who was standing off to the side, respectfully answered, "Don't worry, Mr. Fost. I've already arranged for the stylist and driver to fetch Mrs. Fost."
Stephen grunted in acknowledgment and massaged his throbbing temples. He was feeling inexplicably frustrated and annoyed at the moment.
He hadn't gotten any sleep the previous night, as a feeling of dread had plagued him, causing him to feel restless.
When he thought about how Natania had determinedly left without even looking back once, he could feel his worry gnawing at him. But then he thought of the Fost family's future, and he had to remind himself to steel his heart.
"After today, everything will go back to normal," he quietly told himself.
Moving to stand by the window, he spotted Marissa sitting in the courtyard with Andrew on her lap. Her face radiated with affectionate adoration.
"Andy, today is your birthday, so I've gotten you your favorite thing as a present. Quick, see if you like it."
All Andrew had to do was sweetly address Marissa as "Grandma", and that was enough for her to smile from ear to ear.
