Cecilia looked at the two troublemakers and laughed. "Elliot, if you miss Amy and Dahlia, just call them. I already gave you Aunt Madeline's and Aunt Meredith's numbers."
Elliot fiddled with his fingers.
"Isn't it too early to call my future mother-in-law? Besides, I haven't prepared anything."
Cecilia fell silent.
Jonathan said, "Don't tell me you like both girls."
Elliot looked over. "Of course. They're both adorable."
Only a child could say that; an adult would have been roasted.
Cecilia explained, "Elliot, when you like someone, you have to be devoted. Your heart can't be split in two."
Elliot nodded hard and added, "Mommy, you and Brother misunderstood me. I like both little sisters, but I want to marry only one."
"Oh? Which one?" Cecilia asked with curiosity.
Elliot chuckled and blinked. "Mommy, that's a secret."
Cecilia felt amused and helpless; she hadn't expected her young son to plan marriage so far ahead.
Even so, she genuinely wondered what her future daughter-in-law would be like.
"All right, Mommy won't ask."
She chose not to press him, knowing he would talk when ready.
Jonathan suddenly sank into silence.
Cecilia noticed and found it odd. "Jon, what's wrong?"
Elliot looked up. "Bro, don't tell me you like them both too?"
Jonathan arched an eyebrow, the spitting image of Nathaniel in miniature.
