When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2265

Mr. Sven had been following Magnus, so he knew what had been going on over there.

Ever since Magnus married Denise, Cecilia hadn't paid much attention to him anymore.

Now she called again and asked Mr. Sven for a general picture of how Magnus had been doing.

Mr. Sven sent her the video.

In it, Magnus was hauling crates of the fruit alongside the workers, while Denise stood off to the side, wiping the thin sweat from his forehead.

The two of them looked close in a way that was hard to miss.

"Looks like Magnus really did change," Lucille said. "He'd actually carry the fruit himself."

The old Magnus had been nothing but a spoiled rich kid who spent his days partying.

He wouldn't lift with his hands or carry anything on his shoulders, but now he could do the same kind of work ordinary people did every day.

Cecilia gave a small nod. "Yeah. Probably because of Denise."

She could tell Magnus cared about Denise a great deal.

"Looks like making him suffer a little outside wasn't the wrong call after all. More than anything, he met a good woman," Cecilia said.

Lucille nodded too. "So that's what people mean when they say a blessed woman brings prosperity to the family."

Cecilia smiled. "That's called having virtue."

She didn't keep chatting with Lucille.

She picked up her phone and called Magnus back.

It took a long time for the call to connect.

When he finally answered, Magnus was breathing hard. "Hello, sis, what's wrong? Was there something bad about the fruit?"

"The fruit's very good. I just had some. I called to tell you that, and to say thank you."

"Come on, what are you saying that for? We're real brother and sister. What is there to thank me for? You took care of me all the way from when we were kids till now. I've got my own work and family now, and there isn't much I can do to help you, so all I can do is send you something to eat," Magnus said slowly.

Now that he had a family, even the way he spoke sounded a lot better than before.

Cecilia was genuinely glad for him.

"You're doing really well now. Keep at it."

"Okay."

Only then did Magnus hang up.

Lucille leaned in. "I could hear people moving things around on his end just now. He must be pretty busy."

"Mm." Cecilia nodded. "He can handle a lot more hardship now than he could before."

Lucille nodded. "Yeah. I just hope he lives well."
