The corner of Robert's mouth twitched when he heard that.

"What did you say?"

Cecilia put on a puzzled look. "Wasn't that why you bought this land in the first place? To expand the ancestral tombs? Since the land isn't getting taken now, why not keep expanding them?"

That landed so hard Robert nearly spat blood.

Even so, he forced it down and didn't let any of it show.

"That makes sense," he said, "but I've already spent so much money. I don't have any funds left to renovate it."

"Then leave this to me," Nathaniel said. "I'll handle it."

Robert stared at him again, his whole face locked in shock. This husband and wife really had no shame at all.

They had already dragged him down this far, and now they still wanted to kick more dirt on top of him.

Cecilia and Nathaniel acted like they couldn't see his expression.

Cecilia followed right after. "Uncle, we're all family. Nathaniel can cover the expansion costs himself. Either way, it's for the ancestors. But the land should still be transferred to Nathaniel, otherwise it won't be convenient for him to hire a construction crew, right?"

Robert's hand, hanging at his side, clenched hard enough to shake.

"O-okay," he said.

The only reason Robert agreed was because the buildings he had put up on that land were illegal to begin with.

If the time came to tear them down, that would cost him another huge chunk of money.

After saying that, he turned to Arnold.

"Go handle the transfer."

Arnold was completely thrown by it. His own boss had bought that land at a sky-high price, and now he was giving it back for nothing...

Arnold didn't dare ask questions. He could only do what Robert told him and leave to take care of it.

Once Arnold went off to handle it, Cecilia, Nathaniel, and Wren finally left too.

The second they were gone, Robert couldn't hold himself up anymore.
